Safety Manager (Based in Ontario)

The role: (Residential Position - Ontario) Join an exciting and newly created mining company, where you will be the most senior person in the Safety department (leading a team of 3), responsible for 2 sites.

Ensure the companies flagship underground site is fully prepared to enter the production stage, whilst also working on a lesser established project to ensure continuous safety compliance is achieved.

Location: Ontario (Will require relocation)
Salary: $140,000-$170,000 + Quarterly Bonus + Benefits + Relocation Assistance
Roster: 5/2/4/3
Company: Mining Development Company (1 operation and 1 project)
Reports to: Mine General Manager
Team size: Leading a small safety team of 3 (will increase next year)
Culture: Small but close knit team on site with positive and ethical culture

Core responsibilities

• Oversight of Health & Safety activities at both sites
• Provide site leadership with ongoing safety performance updates
• H&S Strategical thinking and leadership
• Promote and lead a zero harm work culture
• Coordinate risk management processes
• Health & Safety training and assurance to site employees
• Key stakeholder and regulatory body engagement
• Incident investigation and corrective actions

Requirements:

• 7+ years health & safety leadership experience in a mining environment
• Underground mining experience (ideally at a leadership level)
• Qualification - Degree in related field
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Mining hazard identification
