Shaft Services Crew Member

Location: Northern Ontario, Canada

Roster: 7 days on / 7 days off (days and nights)

The Role

We are seeking experienced and safety-focused individuals to join a dedicated Shaft Services Crew at a leading underground mining operation in Northern Ontario. This critical role is responsible for ensuring the safe transportation of personnel, equipment, and material between surface and underground, as well as operating hoists, skips, crushers, and conveyor systems to support production.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate hoists, skips, crushers, and underground conveyor systems to transport personnel, ore, and waste.
  • Perform pre-start safety inspections of equipment and promptly report issues to supervisors and maintenance teams.
  • Operate underground crushers to prepare ore and waste for transport to surface.
  • Support underground operations by operating other mining equipment such as loaders, jack-legs, and 2-yard scoops when required.
  • Follow all site safety procedures and standard operating protocols.
  • Complete other general duties as assigned by the Shaft Services Supervisor.

What You Bring

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in an underground mining environment.
  • Experience operating mobile equipment underground (trucks, loaders, jack-legs, 2-yard scoops) an asset.
  • Experience operating hoists, conveyors, and crushers an asset.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written) and computer literacy.
  • Ability to quickly learn new tasks and work effectively in a cross-cultural team environment.
  • Proven commitment to safe work practices with the ability to respond quickly and safely in emergencies.
  • Physically fit to handle underground demands, including lifting up to 50 lbs, prolonged standing, climbing ladders, and working in variable conditions (noise, dust, vibration, and humidity).
