Our client is a global engineering group specialising in mining and rock excavation and they are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer for their new product line within their Rotary Drilling Division. There is scope with this role to consider candidates with people management experience.

This Senior Electrical Engineer role is a new position based in Florida, reporting to the VP Product Development and will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high voltage systems pertaining to mining drill rigs (4.2 - 7.2 kV). You will have a deep understanding or electrical engineering principles, high voltage systems, and safety regulations associated with mining drill rigs and operating environment.

In this Senior Electrical Engineer position, you will also be responsible for:

  • Designing, developing, and implementing electrical systems and controls for mining drill equipment and related infrastructure.
  • Creating and maintaining electrical schematics, layout drawings, and cable schedules, BOMs
  • Leading electrical design projects, including power distribution, panel design, grounding, and protection.
  • Overseeing the maintenance of electrical systems, including high-voltage distribution, motor control centers, and switchgear.
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical issues to minimize downtime and ensure safety.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant safety regulations, industry standards (e.g., NFPA, NEC, UL, ISO) and company policies.
  • Managing electrical engineering projects from concept through completion, including budgeting and scheduling.

Essentials

  • Currently based, and have right to work, in the USA.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • 8 years' experience with electrical systems design and development for mining drills or heavy mining equipment.
  • Experience with high voltage components such as motors, transformers, control cabinet, switches, cables, and safety devices such as ground fault protection systems.
  • Open to candidates with people management experience.
