The Opportunity:
A newly created leadership position in Health, Safety & Training with a global underground mining contractor, supporting one of their cornerstone operations in Ontario. This is a critical appointment for a proven HSE leader who can promote a culture of safety excellence, drive proactive risk management, and champion high training standards across a complex and technically challenging site.
Reporting directly to the North American HSE Lead, and working closely with the site Project Manager, you will take ownership of the safety and training strategy, provide leadership to a team of Coordinators, and ensure full alignment with provincial and federal health and safety standards.

Salary: $170k - $190k Base + Benefits
Key Focus:
Lead the site HST team and mentor 4 Coordinators, building a high-performance safety culture.
Ensure full compliance with Ontario OH&S legislation and corporate safety frameworks.
Oversee site risk management, safety plans, and training systems tailored to underground operations.
Drive incident investigation and root cause analysis processes, using ICAM methodologies.
Act as a key liaison with client teams to ensure alignment with their safety expectations.
Foster effective communication across site teams and senior leadership.
Identify and implement critical controls for key risks.
Promote site-wide learning, cultural improvement, and long-term safety performance growth.
Core Competencies:
Minimum 5 years' experience in underground mining H&S roles
Formal qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline.
Strong working knowledge of Ontario OH&S regulations.
Proven leadership and team development skills in safety and training functions.
Advanced incident investigation and audit capability.
Strong communicator who can engage with all site levels - from operators to executives.
Experience working in complex or high-pressure mining environments.
Bonus: Mining Common Core certification, CHSC, ISO Lead Auditor, or Risk Management credentials.
