The Opportunity:

We are searching for an experienced Senior Financial Leader to take on site-based leadership role for a well established mining operation in Ontario. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this role is a key member of the site leadership team and acts as the primary financial advisor to operations.

You will lead a sizeable on-site finance function, providing financial governance, cost control, budgeting, forecasting, and decision support in a complex operating environment. This role requires close partnership with operations, corporate finance, and external stakeholders.

Key Focus:

  • Lead all site-based finance, accounting, payroll, and financial planning activities.
  • Act as a trusted business partner and "right-hand" to the General Manager on all financial matters.
  • Own site budgeting, forecasting, and headcount planning, with a strong focus on workforce and cost control.
  • Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reporting in line with corporate standards.
  • Drive financial governance, internal controls, compliance, and risk management.
  • Lead and coordinate internal and external audits, working closely with auditors and corporate finance.
  • Provide cost analysis, variance reporting, and performance insights to support operational decision-making.
  • Support capital expenditure tracking, asset stewardship, and long-term planning.
  • Work closely with corporate finance and IT teams to ensure systems, processes, and reporting are fit for purpose.
  • Continue building a cohesive, high-performing finance team following recent stabilization and transition.
  • Embed consistent, disciplined financial processes and continuous improvement across the site.

Core Competencies / Qualifications:

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent).
  • 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including senior leadership responsibility.
  • Proven experience in mining or other heavy asset / operationally complex industries.
  • Strong background in cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and retain finance teams.
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to translate financial data into operational insight.
  • Willingness and ability to relocate
