Field Service Engineer - Perth, Australia

We are working with a global, $multimillion client who are technology innovators, custom manufacturers, and electrical systems trouble-shooters for heavy industry. They design, engineer, produce, and service industrial power systems and control systems, specialising in electric rotating machinery for high-demand applications across mining, mills, and heavy industry. Due to global growth, they are looking for multiple Field Service Engineers to work on their drill automation product, to be based in Perth, Australia.

These Field Service Engineer roles will report to the Field Service Manager and be responsible for providing engineering services to customers in Western Australia related to their drill automation product. They will design and troubleshoot control systems including products with drives and PLC's and assist in routine to moderately complex products and projects. Primary industry focus is mining although serving other industries will be required based on business needs.

Key functions for this Field Service Engineer are:

  • Providing technical services as it relates to routine and moderately complex maintenance and/or repair of control systems and their components at customer sites or in company locations.
  • Project types may range from: new product development, design and specification of new systems and subsystems, continuous improvement of products, repeating previously completed projects, adapting existing products to a specific customer application.
  • Supporting "on-call" requests from including diagnosis and troubleshooting at customer sites. May also include after-hours calls and travel on short notice.
  • Developing, programming, and implementing PLC and/or HMI control systems. Developing a mastery of process knowledge and skills to include advanced programming and complex applications. Projects will include increasing emphasis on commercial details and project management.
  • Seeking out and developing innovative applications, methods, procedures, etc. to improve operations, services, etc., thereby enhancing customer satisfaction and/or improving company performance.

Essential requirements are:

  • A Bachelor's degree in electrical or electronic engineering.
  • Strong experience involving AC or DC drives, PLC's, and/or HMI platforms.
  • Experience with autonomous mining, mobile or construction equipment.
