Business Development Manager - Drug Product Manufacturing
Remote | U.S. East Coast preferred

A growing contract manufacturing partner is seeking a Business Development Manager to help expand its client base and support the company's evolution from a traditional CMO to a full-service CDMO. While our long-term vision includes integrated development services, our current capabilities are focused on drug product manufacturing, including aseptic fill-finish, lyophilization, and packaging for both clinical and commercial supply.

This is a critical growth role for a driven BD professional who understands the nuances of manufacturing partnerships and can speak credibly with biopharma clients about formulation, tech transfer, and supply chain execution.

Key Responsibilities

Client Acquisition & Growth

  • Identify and engage prospective biotech and pharma clients with drug product manufacturing needs

  • Drive all phases of the sales cycle: lead generation, qualification, proposal development, and contract negotiation

  • Maintain and expand relationships with existing accounts to increase repeat business and cross-sell services as capabilities expand

Subject Matter Credibility

  • Communicate fluently about sterile drug product manufacturing (e.g., vials, syringes, cartridges), fill-finish technologies, and GMP compliance

  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, guiding them through CDMO selection and execution processes

Strategic Insight

  • Work closely with internal teams (Tech Ops, QA, PM) to align on project feasibility, capacity planning, and onboarding

  • Provide market feedback and competitive intel to inform service development as the organization broadens into drug development support

Networking & Brand Building

  • Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and targeted networking events

  • Build brand visibility and credibility in the broader CDMO space

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 5-10 years of business development, sales, or client-facing experience within a CMO/CDMO, pharma manufacturing, or outsourcing environment

  • Strong knowledge of sterile drug product manufacturing and cGMP operations

  • Experience selling services to biotech and pharma clients at various stages of development

  • Excellent communication and consultative selling skills

  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, evolving organization-experience with a growing or transitioning CDMO is a plus

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, or Business required (advanced degree preferred)

  • Willingness to travel as needed (20-30%)
