Vice President of Solutions Engineering - Data Centers

A leading global colocation operator with deep expertise in technology and real estate development is seeking a Vice President of Solutions Engineering. Position Summary

The Vice President of Solutions Engineering is a senior leadership role responsible for guiding the technical pre-sales process and supporting business development with tailored solutions that align to customer needs. Acting as the primary technical advisor and product advocate, this role will lead the Solutions Engineering team, engage directly with clients, and ensure that solutions are designed to meet business, technical, and operational requirements.

The VP will collaborate closely with sales, design, engineering, and operations teams, while also driving consistency in technical standards and solution delivery across regions. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on customer engagement to ensure solutions are both technically sound and commercially aligned.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, lead, and mentor a team of Solutions Engineers and Implementation Managers, fostering technical excellence and customer focus.

• Partner with sales teams in customer-facing meetings to understand business and technical requirements, translate them into design solutions, and provide technical guidance throughout the sales cycle.

• Develop solution designs, architectural overviews, technical proposals, and facility tours that showcase company capabilities.

• Conduct detailed assessments of client IT environments, including power, cooling, space, and network architecture, to ensure optimal deployment.

• Review lease terms and ensure alignment with customer technical needs and design requirements.

• Lead the adoption of design standards and best practices across regional delivery partners.

• Collaborate with vendors and contractors to develop scopes of work, bills of materials, and accurate cost estimates for large-scale deployments.

• Support responses to RFIs, RFPs, and proposals, ensuring technical and commercial requirements are met.

• Engage directly with enterprise and hyperscale clients, including C-level stakeholders, to position solutions effectively and build long-term relationships.

• Provide strategic oversight of solution design processes while driving process improvements and knowledge sharing within the team.

• Represent the company at conferences, industry events, and customer meetings as a technical leader.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in technical leadership roles within the data center, cloud, or IT infrastructure industry, with proven experience supporting hyperscale customers.

• Demonstrated success leading global Solutions Engineering or Technical Sales teams.

• In-depth expertise in data center systems, including electrical, mechanical, cabling, and network design, as well as industry standards (e.g., Uptime Tier, ASHRAE).

• Strong business acumen and ability to align technical solutions with customer business drivers.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence executive and C-level stakeholders.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
