Our client is a leading baked goods manufacturer who have enjoyed significant success in recent times in both domestic and international markets. With multiple manufacturing facilities they are soon to enter their next phase of investment & growth and are looking to appoint a VP of Engineering.
This role is responsible for Engineering Capital projects and for identifying, vetting, and championing new manufacturing opportunities and new or emerging technical advancements, as assigned, for manufacturing facilities. This position requires strong personal initiative to identify opportunities, achieve engineering standardization and implementing asset and process best practices within manufacturing facilities.
The Role:
- Reporting directly to the COO and a key member of the senior leadership team you will design and deliver a group wide engineering strategy for all sites and hold complete responsibility for significant investment /project budgets.
- Will implement your plan through both dedicated projects teams and site-based engineering functions to ensure group level standards are achieved across all sites.
- Provide engineering counsel and leadership for multiple facilities and internal project engineers.
- Manage and execute all facets of capital projects ranging from regulatory compliance to building expansions, capacity expansions (brownfield / greenfield) and improvement / new technology projects.
- Identifies and champions cost reductions projects (capital and non-capital) through process or equipment improvements, capital automation and robotic opportunities.
- Aid in evaluating new business and line extensions.
- Evaluates and develops engineering projects for the facilities. This includes prioritizing the plant's needs, developing a 3/5-Year Capital Plan and its implementation.
- A key element of this role will be to restructure/ future proof the group Engineering function and optimize current practices including site & equipment, people, systems and processes to increase capability.
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred not required. (Equivalent Technical degree or experience considered)
- 10-15 years of leading engineering projects.
- Experience in food manufacturing and baking required
- Engineering project management experience.
- Hands on approach to problem solving with creative solutions.
- An ambassador of CI/ LEAN/ O OPEXprocesses, you will be keen to work as part of a close knit senior team who input their expertise across all areas of business and operations to achieve results.
