About the Opportunity
Our client, a leading U.S. based CDMO, is seeking an accomplished Vice President of Business Development to lead commercial growth across their global operations.
This is a highly visible executive role with responsibility for driving strategic partnerships, expanding market share, and leading a high-performing business development organization within a high-growth, rapidly expanding CDMO.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of pharmaceutical development and manufacturing, deep customer relationships, and a proven record of commercial success in Pharma/Biotech CDMO.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the global business development strategy, focusing on both new customer acquisition and strategic account expansion.
- Manage, mentor and develop a team of BD Directors, with the aim of expanding and growing the function.
- Identify and secure opportunities across small molecule API development, drug product manufacturing, and analytical services.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key pharmaceutical and biotech clients.
- Negotiate high-value commercial agreements and ensure alignment with corporate goals.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, R&D, Quality, and Finance to deliver best-in-class customer experiences.
- Represent the organization at industry events and conferences.
- Provide data-driven forecasting and performance reporting to senior leadership.
Qualifications:
- 15+ years of progressive experience in business development or commercial leadership within CDMO, pharmaceutical, or biotech sectors.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutics, or related field; MBA or advanced scientific degree preferred.
- Strong understanding of drug development and manufacturing processes, including regulatory and quality frameworks.
- Proven track record of driving revenue growth and leading successful BD teams.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to travel domestically (and occasionally internationally) up to 50%.
