Vice President Business Development & Sales - North America

Are you a senior business development and sales professional within the Utilities industry?

Do you have a strong track record and deep knowledge of IOUs, ISOs, and RTOs across North America?

Are you experienced in building, developing, and managing sales teams?

We are retained with a global energy consulting firm who are focused on the energy transition and working with clients across the energy ecosystem. They partner with power and energy clients across the globe providing consulting expertise and energy intelligence software solutions for complex engineering and grid modelling challenges. Due to a retirement, we are looking for Vice President Business Development and Sales covering North America.

The Vice President Business Development and Sales - North America will report to the EVP Utilities Division, and be responsible for driving growth, revenue and market expansion. They will be pivotal in shaping the strategic direction, building and leading high-performing teams, and fostering exceptional customer experiences. The ideal candidate will possess deep industry knowledge of the business models, market trends, engineering, and operational needs of investor-owned electric utilities, ISOs/RTOs, electric cooperatives, and municipalities.

Key responsibilities for this Vice President Business Development and Sales - North America are:

  • Developing and executing a growth strategy aligned with the Company's vision and the Business Unit (BU) goals.
  • Leading strategic planning initiatives and ensure effective strategy deployment and execution.
  • Building, leading, and mentoring a high-performing Business Development & Sales team.
  • Improving sales efficiency, including responsiveness, procurement, contract engagement, and on boarding processes.
  • Increasing market share and conduct effective market research.
  • Effectively managing the Business Development and sales budget, allocate resources, and ensure a positive ROI for initiatives.
  • Encouraging a culture within the Business Development and sales team that prioritizes data as a cornerstone for decision-making

Essential experience

  • Strong understanding of clean energy transition, electric utilities, project developers for renewables, battery energy storage as well as other emerging technologies across North America.
  • Track record in developing and executing comprehensive business development and sales strategies aligned with company growth objectives.
  • Experience in building, leading, and managing a business development and sales team, setting clear goals, and providing mentor ship.
