Transportation Planning Client Leader

The Opportunity

A leading national engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a senior Transportation Planning Client Leader to support the continued growth of its transportation practice across Arizona.

This is a senior, client-facing leadership position for someone with a strong background in transportation planning and established relationships with public-sector clients across the state.

The successful individual will work closely with major transportation agencies, municipalities and regional authorities, helping strengthen existing relationships, identify and secure new opportunities, and provide senior leadership across complex planning and transportation programs.

The role will retain involvement in strategic project delivery, but the primary focus will be on client development, market growth and leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop relationships with key transportation clients across Arizona.
• Strengthen existing relationships with ADOT, municipalities and regional transportation agencies.
• Identify, pursue and secure new transportation planning and consulting opportunities.
• Develop account strategies for priority clients and markets.
• Support capture planning, proposals, presentations and major pursuits.
• Maintain senior-level involvement across key planning projects and programs.
• Work closely with Project Managers, planners, engineers and regional leadership to ensure successful project delivery.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across planning, environmental, roadway, transit and related transportation disciplines.
• Support the continued growth of the Arizona transportation planning practice.
• Represent the business at client meetings, industry organisations and regional transportation events.
• Mentor and support project managers and technical staff.

Project Exposure

The position will support projects across areas including:

• Long-range transportation planning
• Transportation master plans
• Multimodal planning
• Corridor studies
• Safety planning
• PEL and NEPA studies
• Transit planning
• Feasibility studies
• Mobility and access planning
• Regional and municipal transportation studies
• Strategic transportation programs

The team has an established presence in Arizona and works with ADOT, municipalities and regional public-sector transportation clients across the state.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Significant experience within the Arizona transportation planning market.
• A strong background in transportation planning, engineering consulting or related infrastructure advisory work.
• Experience working with ADOT, municipalities, MPOs or regional transportation agencies.
• Established client relationships across Arizona.
• Demonstrated experience managing senior client relationships.
• Experience supporting business development, pursuits, proposals or account growth.
• A strong understanding of transportation planning and public-sector project delivery.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and complex transportation programs.
• The ability to combine commercial leadership with credible technical and project delivery experience.

Candidates currently operating as a Senior Project Manager, Planning Manager, Transportation Planning Manager, Client Manager, Practice Leader, Program Manager or similar senior position would be particularly relevant.
