Transportation Client Leader

The Opportunity

A leading national engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a senior Transportation Client Leader to support the continued growth of its transportation practice across Pennsylvania, with a particular focus on the Pittsburgh market.

This is a senior, client-facing leadership position for someone with strong experience delivering highway and bridge design projects and established relationships across the Pennsylvania transportation market.

The successful individual will work closely with major public-sector transportation clients, helping strengthen existing relationships, identify and secure new opportunities, and provide senior leadership across multidisciplinary project teams.

The role will retain involvement in strategic project delivery, but the primary focus will be on client development, market growth and leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop relationships with key transportation clients across Pennsylvania.
  • Strengthen existing relationships with agencies including PennDOT and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.
  • Identify, pursue and secure new highway, bridge and wider transportation engineering opportunities.
  • Develop client and account strategies across the Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania market.
  • Support capture planning, proposals, presentations and major pursuits.
  • Maintain senior-level involvement across key projects and programs.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, technical leaders and regional management to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across roadway, highway, bridge, structural and supporting transportation disciplines.
  • Support the continued growth of the Pennsylvania transportation practice.
  • Represent the business at client meetings, industry organisations and regional transportation events.
  • Mentor and support senior project and technical staff.

Project Exposure

The position will support transportation projects across areas including:

  • Highway and roadway design
  • Bridge and structural design
  • Interchanges and corridor improvements
  • Preliminary and final design
  • Transportation infrastructure rehabilitation and upgrades
  • Multidisciplinary transportation design
  • Project and program management
  • Planning and design-phase support
  • Construction-phase engineering support

The team has an established presence across Pennsylvania and works with major public transportation clients including PennDOT, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and local transportation agencies.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Significant experience within the Pennsylvania transportation engineering market.
  • A strong background in highway, roadway, bridge or transportation design.
  • Experience working within an engineering consultancy environment.
  • Experience delivering projects for PennDOT, the Pennsylvania Turnpike or other major public-sector transportation clients.
  • Established relationships within Pittsburgh, Western Pennsylvania and/or the wider Pennsylvania transportation market.
  • Demonstrated experience managing senior client relationships.
  • Experience supporting business development, pursuits, proposals or account growth.
  • A strong understanding of transportation project delivery and multidisciplinary design.
  • Experience leading project teams, technical teams or complex transportation programs.

Candidates currently operating as a Senior Project Manager, Project Director, Client Manager, Transportation Manager, Highway Manager, Bridge Manager, Practice Leader or similar senior position would be particularly relevant.
