Technical Advisor - Geotechnical

We are working with a well-established, employee-owned environmental engineering consultancy looking to appoint a senior Geotechnical Technical Advisor., ideally across one of the firms midwest or central regions. This is a high-impact role focused on technical leadership across complex landfill and environmental projects nationwide. It is best suited to an experienced engineer who wants to step into a position where their expertise is relied upon to solve problems, guide teams, and influence project outcomes.

Role Overview
You will act as a go-to technical authority, supporting project teams and clients on challenging geotechnical issues. This role is less about day-to-day delivery and more about providing clear direction, making sound technical decisions, and strengthening overall project quality across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert input on settlement, slope stability, and geotechnical performance across landfill and environmental projects
• Lead technical problem-solving on complex sites, including landfills, embankments, and remediation projects
• Support design, permitting, and construction phases, including Construction Quality Assurance (CQA)
• Contribute to bids, proposals, and technical strategies
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical standard across teams
• Work directly with clients to deliver practical, reliable solutions
• Represent the business at industry events and technical forums

Candidate Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), or ability to obtain reciprocity
• 10+ years' experience (20+ years preferred)
• Strong background in landfill, waste management, or environmental engineering
• Proven track record in technical leadership and decision-making
