Location: Austin, TX
Reports To: Project Manager / Director of Construction
The Superintendent oversees all on-site construction and renovation projects for gas stations and convenience stores in the Austin area. This includes managing daily field operations, coordinating subcontractors, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance, and delivering projects on time, on budget, and to quality standards.
Lead daily operations on construction sites, including ground-up builds and remodels.
Oversee site preparation, grading, drainage, concrete work, and utility connections.
Supervise installation of fuel systems, underground and above-ground tanks, pumps, canopies, lighting, signage, and convenience store interiors.
Coordinate civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, paving, and landscaping trades.
Interpret plans, drawings, and specifications; ensure subcontractor compliance.
Develop and maintain project schedules; monitor progress and mitigate delays.
Manage budgets, change orders, labor, and materials.
Ensure strict adherence to safety standards (OSHA, fire, environmental, fuel handling) and local building codes.
Secure permits and coordinate inspections with city, county, and state authorities.
Perform quality inspections and address deficiencies promptly.
Maintain organized, safe, and clean job sites.
Communicate project status and issues with stakeholders, clients, and management.
Mentor and supervise field staff and subcontractors.
5+ years of construction field leadership; superintendent experience preferred.
Knowledge of fuel systems, convenience store infrastructure, and related regulations.
Experience with civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and interior construction.
Ability to read blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications.
Strong scheduling, planning, budgeting, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent leadership and communication skills.
Familiarity with Austin area permitting, inspections, and building codes.
Valid driver's license; travel to multiple job sites required.
Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office.
Safety certifications (OSHA 30, HAZWOPER, etc.) preferred.
On-site presence is required; work outdoors in varying weather conditions and around heavy equipment.
Work may exceed standard hours, including weekends and after-hours as needed.
