We're seeking a Substation Electrical Engineer - to join our team supporting clients across the U.S. and internationally. This role is key to shaping the resiliency, reliability, and economic operation of the electric grid.
As a Staff Engineer, you'll lead the design of high-voltage substations (13kV-500kV), provide consulting services, and deliver impactful solutions on projects ranging from small distribution upgrades to large-scale transmission developments.
What you'll do:
Lead the design of substation physical layouts, grounding, lightning protection, raceways, AC/DC auxiliary power, and control building arrangements.
Develop protection & control deliverables: single lines, three lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, and relay panel designs.
Prepare proposals, scopes, cost estimates, and execution plans.
Perform engineering studies and write supporting reports (grounding, lightning, AC/DC load).
Create equipment specifications and support procurement/factory acceptance testing.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (Civil/Structural, Transmission, Networks, etc.).
Mentor junior engineers and review the work of peers.
Provide short-term field support during construction.
Engage in business development and client interactions.
What we're looking for:
Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited) and 3+ years' experience (Master's with 2+ years also considered).
Experience in consulting and substation design preferred.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and analysis software.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
EIT certification preferred.
