Solid Waste Engineer

Our client, a well-established environmental engineering and consulting firm, is seeking a Design Engineer and/or Project Manager to support solid waste projects. This is a fully remote opportunity.

We're looking for a collaborative team player with a strong desire to grow professionally. In this role, you will prepare engineering calculations, drawings, reports, and permit applications, and may serve as Engineer of Record for projects supporting both public and private sector clients.

How You'll Make an Impact

• Lead and support engineering design, client communication, and internal team coordination
• Deliver projects focused on solid waste management, including:
  • Landfill design and infrastructure
  • Landfill gas systems
  • Composting facilities
• Support projects across design, permitting, construction, and operations phases
• Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, drawings, and permit applications
• Work independently to plan, coordinate, and execute technical work
• Represent the company in client meetings and industry events
• Conduct occasional fieldwork (site visits, inspections, data collection)
• Perform office-based work including CAD drafting, site layout, and report writing
• Contribute to business development through proposals and client engagement

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Geotechnical Engineering, or similar
• EIT required, PE preferred (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
• 4+ years of relevant experience in consulting, ideally within the solid waste industry
• Experience with landfill design, landfill gas, permitting, or air compliance strongly preferred
• Valid driver's license
