A leading international engineering consultancy is expanding its mine water and environmental team in London.

With projects across Europe, Africa, and the Americas, the firm delivers innovative, sustainable solutions in mining, hydropower, and water resources - supporting clients from design through to closure.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Water Management Engineer to lead and deliver the surface water aspects of mining and tailings projects.

This is a chance to play a key technical and leadership role in a dynamic, globally connected team - developing designs, mentoring junior engineers, and contributing to water management solutions that meet today's environmental and operational challenges.

  • Develop safe, cost-effective, and innovative water management designs for mine sites worldwide.

  • Lead hydrologic and hydraulic analyses - including rainfall-runoff, sediment transport, dam break, and water balance modelling.

  • Deliver conceptual and detailed designs for diversion channels, containment systems, ponds, and discharge structures.

  • Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and proposals for clients and regulators.

  • Plan and oversee field investigations and construction supervision (UK and international travel required).

  • Support business development through client engagement and technical presentations.

  • Mentor junior engineers, contributing to a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement.

About You

  • Degree (BEng/BSc/MEng/MSc) in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering.

  • Chartered or working toward chartership (MICE, MIMMM, MCIWEM, or equivalent).

  • 5+ years' experience in mine water or surface water engineering.

  • Strong technical grounding in hydrology and hydraulics.

  • Experience with software such as GoldSim, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, FLO-2D, TUFLOW, StormCAD, and ArcGIS.

  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills.

  • Willingness to travel internationally for short-term project work.

  • Fluent in English; a second language advantageous.
