Senior Purchasing Manager - PE-Backed Food Manufacturing Company
Location: Massachusetts (relocation required, with relocation assistance provided)

Are you an experienced purchasing leader with a passion for driving operational excellence in food manufacturing? We are working with a private equity-backed food client seeking a Senior Purchasing Manager to lead procurement across 2 facilities. This role is critical to ensuring uninterrupted production, building strong supplier partnerships, and optimizing cost, quality, and service performance.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead sourcing and purchasing of ingredients and packaging across multiple sites.

  • Manage and develop a high-performing team of Buyers and a Packaging Engineer.

  • Ensure materials availability aligns with production schedules and customer demand.

  • Balance inventory, service levels, and working capital to drive efficiency.

  • Act as the go-to problem-solver for supply disruptions, leading cross-functional solutions.

  • Partner with Quality Assurance to ensure suppliers meet rigorous food safety and quality standards.

  • Resolve supplier issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.

  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to support performance, reliability, and cost initiatives.

  • Collaborate with Operations, Planning, and Warehouse teams to improve procurement processes.

  • Track and report key metrics, including cost savings, supplier performance, and inventory turns.

  • Support strategic sourcing, sustainability, and cost-reduction initiatives.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field.

  • 8+ years in purchasing or materials management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

  • Experience in food manufacturing or consumer packaged goods (CPG) preferred.

  • Proven success in managing suppliers and solving supply chain challenges.

  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

  • Collaborative leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

  • ERP-savvy (Microsoft D365 experience a plus).

  • Excellent communicator with a hands-on, practical approach.
