Job Description
Position: Senior Project Manager - Data Center Construction
Location: Full-time, Cheyenne, Wyoming

A well-established data center development platform is seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager with a strong background in data center or mission-critical infrastructure construction. This role encompasses the full project lifecycle-from concept through turnover-and requires expertise in pre-development planning, scheduling, design coordination, cost control, construction oversight, commissioning, and stakeholder communication.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and hands-on leader who excels in managing complex technical projects while collaborating across teams such as design, development, finance, marketing, and sales.


Key Responsibilities

Due Diligence

  • Support onboarding of consultants and assess potential sites.

  • Evaluate feasibility, risks, and alignment with design and operational requirements.

Strategy, Planning & Pre-Construction

  • Manage the RFP process for consultants and construction partners.

  • Maintain project communication plans and documentation.

  • Oversee the development and tracking of project budgets and schedules.

  • Lead risk management reviews and mitigation strategies.

  • Coordinate permitting and entitlement processes with authorities.

  • Facilitate contractor procurement and ensure accountability.

Design Management

  • Lead design coordination with internal and external teams.

  • Address and resolve review comments and design-related issues.

  • Identify design and constructability risks and propose value engineering solutions.

Scheduling

  • Maintain and update the master schedule.

  • Communicate milestones and manage mitigation plans for delays.

Reporting

  • Develop and distribute progress reports in line with client or internal standards.

  • Track decisions, issues, and action items.

Construction Management

  • Oversee GC contract negotiations and risk management.

  • Manage BIM coordination, site inspections, and construction progress meetings.

  • Conduct site walks and monitor construction quality.

  • Resolve field issues and coordinate with internal teams for equipment integration.

  • Mediate on-site conflicts and adjust project timelines as needed.

Budget, Cost & Procurement

  • Track and manage budgets in real-time to inform decision-making.

  • Approve payments, invoices, and change orders aligned with work progress.

  • Manage procurement and delivery of long-lead and owner-direct items (e.g., IT, AV, FF&E).

  • Ensure proper execution of contracts and monitor compliance and accounting.

Commissioning

  • Lead commissioning activities including testing and start-up procedures.

  • Track issues to resolution and manage final inspections and approvals.

Closeout & Post-Occupancy

  • Manage punch-list completion, occupancy certification, and project turnover.

  • Ensure final documentation, reporting, and financial closeout.


Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in data center or mission-critical construction.

  • Proven leadership in managing full project lifecycles.

  • Deep knowledge of architectural, structural, and MEP systems.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Results-oriented with entrepreneurial drive.

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.


Compensation

  • Anticipated base salary range: $175,000 - $225,000
    (Actual salary will depend on experience, qualifications, and market conditions.)

  • Additional discretionary bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package are available.
