The Mission: On behalf of a client reclaiming the stratosphere, I am looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer. This team builds solar-powered aircraft operating at extreme altitudes for weeks at a time. They provide a persistent, scalable presence from the edge of space. No tourists or bystanders allowed-only builders.

The Role: You will design and fly lightweight, high-reliability structures for stratospheric platforms. This is a high-signal environment where you own mechanical subsystems from initial concept through to flight operations.

Core Responsibilities

• Design lightweight, high-reliability aircraft structures.
• Own mechanical subsystems from trade studies to flight.
• Execute first-principles sizing and rapid iterations.
• Build, test, and refine hardware hands-on.
• Support integration and production on the factory floor.
• Sync with avionics, GNC, and power teams.

Qualifications

• 2+ years designing and building flight-grade mechanical hardware.
• Elite fundamentals in structures, materials, and first-principles engineering.
• Experience with composites, lightweight structures, or bonded assemblies.
• Proactive ownership of outcomes in a fast-paced field environment.
