Senior Mechanical Engineer | UAS Aerospace Startup (Confidential)

The Mission: We are building next-generation UAS in Los Angeles and need someone who can actually deliver hardware, not just sit in meetings. This is on behalf of a client operating in the startup space.

The Reality: You will own the airframe from the first sketch to the flight line. This is a hands-on role. If you want to be siloed in a single department, this is the wrong place. Your day looks like this:

  • Designing airframe components and CAD modeling in SolidWorks or NX.
  • Running stress analysis using hand calcs and FEA to make sure the wings stay on.
  • Designing the tooling needed for fabrication and assembly.
  • Supporting hardware tests and getting out of the office to join the flight test team.

If you need a handbook for every task, do not apply. This is a startup. You figure it out, you build it, and you own the results.

The Requirements:

  • Experience: 3 to 8 years in airframe or structural engineering. Professional experience is required; internships do not count toward this total.
  • Education: Bachelors degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering. A Masters is a plus but your ability to build matters more.
  • Legal: US Citizen or Green Card holder. This is a hard requirement for export-controlled data access.

The Logistics:

  • Location: Los Angeles metro. Relocation is available for the right candidate.
  • Environment: High autonomy. You report to people who build, not people who manage spreadsheets.
