Senior Mechanical Engineer - Copper-Gold Concentrator & Process Plant

Location: International FIFO (6/3 rotation)
Project Type: Major Greenfield Mining Development
Engagement: Full-time, site-based

An international mining company is developing one of the world's largest copper-gold projects and is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the site-based project delivery team on a 6/3 international FIFO roster.
This position offers the chance to play a key role in bringing a world-class concentrator and process plant from construction through to commissioning and ramp-up - a rare opportunity to contribute to one of the industry's most significant new operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the mechanical design review for crushing, HPGR, grinding, flotation, and dewatering circuits.

  • Review and validate P&IDs, general arrangements, and mechanical data sheets, ensuring alignment with design intent and mechanical integrity.

  • Oversee installation, alignment, and commissioning of major rotating and static equipment.

  • Coordinate with OEM representatives during factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT).

  • Provide technical oversight during commissioning and ramp-up to achieve nameplate performance.

  • Ensure all mechanical systems comply with ASME, API, and ISO design and fabrication standards.

  • Support the development of maintenance strategies, spare parts lists, and mechanical completion documentation.

  • Mentor junior engineers and supervise contractor performance to meet EHS, QA/QC, and project delivery standards.

About You

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).

  • 6+ years' experience in mechanical design, construction, or operation of base-metal concentrators or large-scale process plants.

  • Strong working knowledge of rotating and static equipment such as HPGRs, mills, flotation cells, thickeners, and pumps.

  • Proven ability to manage installation, alignment, and commissioning of process plant systems.

  • Experience working in EPCM or owner's team environments on major mining projects.

  • Skilled in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or 3D model review tools for mechanical design validation.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership abilities, with a proactive and safety-focused approach.

This role offers the opportunity to be part of a career-defining project - a new, world-class copper-gold development.
You'll join a collaborative, high-performing team on a 6 weeks on / 3 weeks off rotation, working in a technically complex environment that will challenge and grow your expertise in mechanical engineering and large-scale plant delivery.
