Role and Responsibilities:

  • Direct the ongoing design evolution and airworthiness certification of electric propulsion motor-controller systems.

  • Manage power electronics components and control hardware vendors.

  • Shape and implement the development roadmap for FAA Design Assurance Level (DAL) compliant software, ensuring adherence to DO-178C standards through both internal engineering teams and external partners.

  • Guide powertrain integration activities and manage experimental validation of drive units across dynamometer setups, system-integration test rigs, and flight platforms.

  • Plan and execute certification testing for drive systems, coordinating both internal test campaigns and contracted efforts.

  • Contribute to FAA documentation packages supporting system certification and compliance.

  • Diagnose and resolve advanced electromagnetic interference (EMI) issues to maintain system reliability and performance margins.

  • Lead design, development, and integration of related electrical systems, such as inverters, rectifiers, and DC/DC converters for hybrid-electric and fully electric aircraft, from early lab prototyping through flight demonstration and commercialization.

  • Administer collaborative R&D programs in power electronics with academic and research partners.

  • Generate comprehensive technical documentation covering system architecture, verification testing, and certification deliverables.

  • Manage supplier performance across cost, schedule, and quality targets for propulsion system components.

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in relevant engineering discipline.
  • 5+ Years in a similar capacity.
  • Expert knowledge of DO-178 software development process.
  • Experience with MathWorks Simulink code-generation tools
