Senior Engineer - Technical Expert

I'm currently supporting a leading, employee-owned environmental & engineering consultancy in the US that is looking to appoint a Senior Engineer into a high-impact technical leadership role.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned professional who thrives on solving complex environmental challenges and wants to play a key role in advancing technical excellence across major projects.

The Role
You will act as a senior technical authority across a portfolio of complex projects within the Energy and Industrial/Manufacturing sectors, with a focus on:

• Remedial design and implementation
• Soil, groundwater, and air treatment technologies
• Water/wastewater process and treatment engineering

This position is centred on technical delivery and leadership, not just management. You'll be leading from the front on challenging assignments while mentoring and developing junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead complex remedial design and environmental engineering projects from concept through implementation
• Act as a technical expert and Engineer of Record on high-profile assignments
• Oversee pilot studies, system design, and full-scale remediation solutions
• Provide strategic technical input to clients and regulatory stakeholders
• Mentor and develop engineering teams, driving technical excellence
• Support project delivery across multidisciplinary teams

What We're Looking For

• 20+ years' experience in environmental engineering or related field
• Strong expertise in remediation design and/or water/wastewater treatment
• Deep understanding of environmental regulations and permitting frameworks
• Proven ability to lead complex technical projects
• Experience working with Energy and/or Industrial clients
• Professional Engineer (PE) license (North Carolina preferred/required)
