Senior Civil Aviation Engineer

The Opportunity
A growing national engineering and program management consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Civil Aviation Engineer to support the continued expansion of its aviation practice across the United States.
This is a senior technical position focused specifically on airside aviation infrastructure, supporting the planning, design and delivery of complex airport projects and programs.
The successful candidate will work across major aviation clients and airport programs, taking ownership of technical delivery while also supporting project management, client coordination and the continued development of the aviation team.
The position can be based flexibly across the US, with travel required depending on project and client needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the design of airside civil infrastructure projects.
- Deliver engineering work across runways, taxiways, aprons and associated airport infrastructure.
- Prepare and review civil design packages, calculations, specifications and technical documentation.
- Support grading, drainage, pavement and utility design associated with airport projects.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering, planning and construction teams.
- Provide technical leadership and quality control across aviation projects.
- Manage project scope, schedule and technical deliverables.
- Support client meetings, design reviews and project coordination.
- Mentor and support junior engineers and technical staff.
- Work closely with Project Managers and aviation leadership on major airport programs.
- Support proposals, pursuits and the continued growth of the aviation practice.
- Maintain strong working relationships with airport authorities, consultants and project partners.
Project Exposure
The role will support major aviation infrastructure projects across the US, including:
- Runways and taxiways
- Aprons and aircraft parking areas
- Airfield pavement
- Airfield grading and drainage
- Stormwater infrastructure
- Airside utilities
- Taxiway and runway rehabilitation
- Airfield geometry and layout
- Civil site development
- Airport infrastructure upgrades
- Design and construction-phase engineering support
The aviation practice is currently involved in major airport programs across multiple US markets and is continuing to expand its national project pipeline.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Significant civil engineering experience within the aviation or airport infrastructure market.
- Strong experience delivering airside civil design projects.
- Experience working on runway, taxiway, apron, pavement, drainage or related airport infrastructure.
- A background within an engineering consultancy or aviation design environment.
- Experience preparing and reviewing engineering plans, specifications and calculations.
- Knowledge of FAA standards and aviation design requirements.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong communication and client-facing capabilities.
- The ability to manage multiple technical priorities across complex aviation projects.
A Professional Engineer (PE) licence is strongly preferred.
Candidates currently operating as a Senior Civil Engineer, Senior Aviation Engineer, Airfield Engineer, Aviation Project Engineer, Senior Project Engineer, Airfield Design Engineer or Civil Project Manager would be particularly relevant.

The role can be based from a number of US locations, with flexibility for the right individual. Travel to project sites and client meetings will be required depending on project needs.
