Senior Aviation Project Manager

The opportunity

A growing multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Aviation Project Manager to support the continued expansion of its aviation practice across the Midwest.

This position will combine project delivery, technical coordination and client relationship management. The successful individual will manage airside civil engineering projects while acting as a trusted contact for airport authorities, airlines and other project stakeholders.

This is not a site-based construction management position or a pure business development role. The company is looking for a technically credible aviation professional who can successfully manage projects, coordinate engineering teams and develop strong client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Manage airside aviation projects from initial planning and design through delivery.

• Oversee project scope, budgets, schedules, contracts and engineering fees.

• Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and technical resources.

• Maintain regular communication with airport authorities, airlines, consultants and project stakeholders.

• Support the delivery of runway, taxiway, apron, pavement, drainage, grading and wider airfield infrastructure projects.

• Identify project risks and ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently and to the required technical standards.

• Strengthen existing airport relationships and help develop new opportunities across the Midwest.

• Support proposals, presentations, project interviews and wider account-development activity.

• Provide technical and project leadership to junior engineers and project team members.

Required experience

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related discipline.

• Active Professional Engineer licence.

• Approximately 8 or more years of civil engineering and project-delivery experience.

• Genuine airport or aviation infrastructure experience.

• Previous involvement in airside projects such as runways, taxiways, aprons, airfield pavement, drainage or associated civil works.

• Experience managing project scope, budgets, schedules and multidisciplinary teams.

• Comfortable working directly with airport clients and other senior stakeholders.

• Strong communication, leadership and relationship-management skills.

• Based within reach of Cincinnati or Louisville, or willing to relocate to the region.

Desirable experience

• Experience working with commercial or international airports.

• Knowledge of FAA design standards and airport funding requirements.

• Previous responsibility for engineering proposals, project interviews or client development.

• Experience managing significant aviation assignments within an engineering consultancy.
