Project Manager - MEP / Electrical Construction

Our client, a top 20 ENR Electrical Contractor, is in search of a strong Project Leader/Manager with knowledge/experience in Electrical, Critical Power, and Power Distribution in the DMV area.

You will be leading diverse teams & projects with speciality budgets valued between $5M - $150M+ in (Electrical or Power/Speciality Systems) contract-value across a range of major Federal, Commercial, Mission Critical, Government & Transportation projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Senior Project Managers in scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning

  • Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders for smooth project execution

  • Oversee MEP installations, including coordination and shop drawings

  • Gain hands-on experience with fabrication, transport, and installation processes

  • Lead project kickoff meetings and guide project teams

  • Conduct site surveys, cost studies, and forecast project budgets

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities, quality improvements, and implement best practices

  • Provide regular project updates and maintain team communication

  • Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors

  • Manage preconstruction activities, including estimates (e.g., using Accubid) and schedule development (e.g., P6)

  • Oversee project closeout: punch lists, as-built drawings, training documentation

  • Ensure timely permitting, licensing, and inspections

  • Lead on-site procurement and have a strong understanding of the MEP supplier market

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

  • 7+ years of experience (or 5+ with MS in Engineering)

Requirements

  • Experience managing construction projects and project teams

  • Proven ability to oversee multiple, concurrent projects

  • Strong background in early-stage project involvement (design, estimating, planning)

  • Hands-on experience across disciplines: Fire Alarm, Communications, Security, AV, Power, Instrumentation

  • Strong communication, leadership, and team coordination skills

  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and align stakeholders

  • Analytical mindset with strategic and long-term planning ability

  • Skilled in change management and decision-making in dynamic environments
