Project Director - Shaft Sinking
Are you a Project Director within the mining industry?
Do you have shaft sinking, underground, or tunnelling experience?
Have you worked on large scale mining projects, £200m+?
Are you willing to relocate to the UK?
We are looking for a Project Director to be responsible for the overall leadership, delivery, and performance of the shaft-sinking scope. Acting as the senior site and client-facing representative, the role provides strategic direction, governance, and assurance to ensure the safe, efficient, and successful execution of deep shaft construction works.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overall accountability for safety, schedule, cost, quality, and risk across all shaft-sinking activities
- Leadership and management of senior project, engineering, and construction teams.
- Strategic planning and execution of complex deep-shaft sinking in challenging geological conditions.
- Interface management with the client, joint-venture partners, contractors, and regulators.
- Oversight of commercial performance, contract compliance and change management.
- Ensuring adherence to company standards, systems, and values, with a strong focus on HSE, and operational excellence.
- Providing and presenting full reports to stakeholders and clients.
Key requirements:
- Extensive senior-level experience in shaft sinking or major underground mining construction projects
- Proven track record delivering large, high-risk projects safely and profitably
- Strong leadership with multinational teams, stakeholder management, and commercial acumen
- Ability to operate effectively in a technically complex, high-profile project environment
