The Production Superintendent oversees daily manufacturing activities within the beef processing facility, ensuring production lines operate safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with quality and regulatory standards. This role provides hands-on leadership to supervisors and frontline employees, driving consistent performance in throughput, yield, labor efficiency, and product quality. The Superintendent serves as a key link between plant management and production teams, supporting operational goals and fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise day-to-day production operations, ensuring staffing, workflow, and resources align with production schedules and plant objectives.

  • Monitor line performance, yields, labor utilization, and product quality, implementing corrective actions to meet targets.

  • Ensure compliance with USDA regulations, HACCP, SSOP, GMPs, food-safety programs, and animal-welfare standards.

  • Lead, coach, and develop production supervisors and hourly team members, promoting strong communication, teamwork, and performance.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance throughput, minimize waste, and reduce downtime.

  • Partner with maintenance, quality assurance, safety, and logistics teams to address operational issues and maintain production flow.

  • Promote a strong safety culture through training, audits, incident prevention, and consistent enforcement of safety policies.

  • Analyze production data and prepare reports to track performance, identify trends, and recommend process improvements.

  • Assist the Plant Manager and Operations team with planning activities, including labor forecasting, process changes, and project implementation.

  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, sanitation, and workplace organization throughout the production area.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Animal Science, Meat Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 3-5+ years of production leadership experience in the beef or meat-processing industry.

  • Strong understanding of beef fabrication, harvest, packaging, or further-processing operations.

  • Knowledge of USDA regulations, HACCP systems, GMPs, and food-safety requirements.

  • Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to analyze production metrics and drive performance improvements.

  • Proficiency with production systems, ERP platforms, and standard office software.
