As Principal Mechanical Engineer, you'll be the technical authority for all mechanical design and engineering activities across major mining projects. You'll provide advanced expertise, mentor a talented team, and ensure mechanical deliverables meet the highest quality, safety, and performance standards.
Depending on the project, you may also act as Lead Mechanical Engineer or Area Manager for large-scale EPC/EPCM assignments.
Lead and review detailed mechanical design deliverables including calculations, specifications, datasheets, and equipment lists.
Provide technical input into feasibility studies, detailed design, procurement, and execution phases.
Develop and evaluate equipment packages for crushers, mills, conveyors, pumps, HVAC, and piping systems.
Guide and mentor engineers and designers while remaining hands-on in design and checking work.
Support 3D modeling and drafting activities; review and approve drawings and models.
Standardize engineering tools, templates, and best practices across the discipline.
Collaborate closely with procurement, vendors, and site teams to ensure design intent and technical compliance.
Provide field and commissioning support when needed.
Represent the company in client and vendor meetings as a trusted technical expert.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's an asset).
Registered or eligible for registration as a P.Eng. in Canada (OIQ membership preferred).
12+ years of experience in mechanical design for mining/mineral processing projects (EPC/EPCM).
Strong technical background with major mechanical equipment and plant systems.
Demonstrated experience in vendor management and equipment package development.
Site and commissioning experience strongly preferred.
Excellent leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.
Commercially aware with the ability to balance quality, schedule, and budget.
