CSG Talent is partnered with a nationally recognized environmental and engineering consulting firm seeking a Principal-level professional to help lead and grow its Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) practice. This position can be based remotely or from one of the firm's offices across the United States.
The Opportunity
Our client is looking for an established CCR leader with deep technical expertise, strong industry relationships, and a proven track record of business development. This individual will play a key role in supporting strategic growth initiatives, developing client relationships, leading multidisciplinary teams, and delivering complex projects for utility, energy, and mining clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and expand relationships with existing and prospective clients within the utility, energy, and mining sectors.
- Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities focused on CCR management, environmental compliance, and remediation programs.
- Lead proposal development, project pursuits, and contract negotiations.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing technical and strategic guidance on CCR-related challenges.
- Direct and oversee project execution to ensure successful delivery, quality outcomes, and client satisfaction.
- Mentor and develop technical staff while helping build and strengthen a high-performing team.
- Manage financial performance across client accounts, including revenue growth, profitability, collections, and forecasting.
- Collaborate with internal technical experts to deliver integrated environmental and engineering solutions.
- Maintain a strong commitment to health, safety, and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Professional registration required (PE or PG preferred).
- 15+ years of experience focused on Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR), coal ash management, environmental compliance, remediation, or related services.
- Proven success within an environmental consulting or professional services environment.
- Strong client relationships and business development experience within the utility, power generation, mining, or industrial sectors.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing projects, teams, and client accounts.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
Preferred Experience
- Advanced degree in a related technical discipline.
- Active participation in industry organizations and technical conferences.
- Expertise in CCR regulations, closure strategies, groundwater compliance, landfill design, and long-term asset management programs.
- Established relationships with utilities and power-sector clients throughout the Mountain West or broader U.S. market.
