Program Manager - Environmental Services
Location: Open to any location throughout the U.S. (Hybrid / Remote options available)

A global, employee-owned engineering and environmental consulting firm is seeking an experienced Program Manager to lead the delivery of complex, multi-project environmental programs across the United States. This role offers location flexibility and high visibility within a growing environmental practice.

Reporting to a Portfolio Director, the Program Manager will be responsible for coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing program-level performance, and ensuring environmental programs are delivered efficiently, compliantly, and in alignment with client and business objectives.

The Role

The Program Manager will oversee a portfolio of related environmental projects, serving as a central point of coordination across project teams, clients, and senior leadership. This role requires strong delivery oversight, financial management, and proactive risk management across geographically dispersed teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of multi-project environmental programs
  • Coordinate Project Managers and technical teams across environmental disciplines (e.g., remediation, compliance, water, sustainability)
  • Ensure alignment between program objectives, client expectations, and regulatory requirements
  • Manage program-level budgets, forecasting, and financial performance
  • Oversee resource planning and utilization across distributed teams
  • Identify and mitigate program-level risks, regulatory challenges, and delivery issues
  • Provide regular program performance reporting to senior leadership and stakeholders
  • Ensure adherence to governance, quality, health and safety, and compliance standards
  • Drive continuous improvement across environmental program delivery processes
  • Support the Portfolio Director with strategic oversight and performance reporting

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field (Master's preferred)
  • 5-7+ years of experience in program or senior project management within environmental consulting
  • Demonstrated experience delivering large, complex environmental programs
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations and compliance frameworks
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed teams
  • Strong financial, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Ability to influence and lead without direct authority
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP, PgMP, or similar certification
  • Experience with environmental program or portfolio management tools
  • Strong commercial and client-facing experience
  • Experience managing programs across multiple states or regions
