PFAS Market Leader - Environmental Consulting (Multi-Office, US)

Overview

A confidential, employee-owned environmental consulting firm is seeking a PFAS Market Leader to drive the growth and commercialization of its PFAS service offerings across the United States. This is a senior leadership role focused on market expansion, client development, and revenue growth, working in close collaboration with established PFAS technical experts and multidisciplinary teams.

This position is not a traditional seller/doer role. Success will come from someone who can credibly represent PFAS capabilities in the marketplace, expand private-sector client relationships, and translate technical expertise into scalable, commercial solutions.

Role Objective

The primary objective of this role is to grow PFAS-related revenue, backlog, and client relationships by taking existing and emerging PFAS capabilities to market. The role partners closely with internal technical leaders, scientific services teams, and operations to ensure PFAS offerings are positioned, delivered, and scaled effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead PFAS market growth strategy, with direct accountability for PFAS revenue, backlog, and client expansion
  • Drive business development efforts focused on private-sector and commercial clients
  • Expand PFAS work within existing client relationships and open new client accounts
  • Serve as a senior, client-facing leader who can credibly discuss PFAS challenges, regulatory drivers, and solution pathways
  • Collaborate closely with PFAS technical SMEs and scientific teams to commercialize existing capabilities
  • Translate technical PFAS expertise into market-ready offerings, proposals, and client solutions
  • Support go-to-market strategy, positioning, and pricing of PFAS services
  • Partner with operations and project teams to ensure PFAS work is scoped and delivered effectively
  • Help integrate and commercialize new PFAS capabilities arising from tools, technologies, partnerships, or potential acquisitions
  • Represent the firm in industry forums, client meetings, and strategic pursuits
  • Track market trends, regulatory drivers, and competitive positioning within the PFAS space

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Geology, or a related discipline; advanced degree preferred
  • 12+ years of experience in environmental consulting or a closely related advisory environment
  • Demonstrated success growing PFAS-related work, clients, or programs within the private sector
  • Strong business development background, including client relationship management and proposal leadership
  • Sufficient technical PFAS knowledge to credibly engage clients and collaborate with internal SMEs
  • Experience working within established consulting organizations and scaling existing capabilities (not building in isolation)
  • Background with a competing consulting firm or advisory group active in the PFAS market is strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and client-facing skills

Location

This is not a remote position. The role is open to candidates working from multiple offices across the East Coast, Southeast, Midwest, and Central United States, with final location aligned to candidate background and business needs.

Why This Role

  • Clear ownership of PFAS market growth and commercialization
  • Opportunity to build on established PFAS capabilities rather than starting from scratch
  • Strong collaboration with deep technical experts and multidisciplinary teams
  • Flexibility to leverage evolving tools, technologies, partnerships, and potential acquisitions
  • Employee-owned organization with long-term stability and upside
