Job Summary:

The Operations Superintendent plays a critical leadership role in overseeing day-to-day production activities within a beef processing facility. This position ensures that operational goals related to safety, quality, efficiency, and compliance are met or exceeded. The superintendent supervises department supervisors and frontline staff to maintain a smooth, productive, and safe operation.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily production operations in assigned areas (e.g., slaughter, fabrication, packaging).

  • Ensure compliance with USDA regulations, food safety standards, and company policies.

  • Monitor and enforce workplace safety procedures and promote a safety-first culture.

  • Collaborate with quality assurance, maintenance, and logistics teams to resolve issues quickly and efficiently.

  • Drive continuous improvement in yield, throughput, labor efficiency, and waste reduction.

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and performance feedback to supervisors and frontline employees.

  • Support training and development initiatives for staff to maintain a skilled workforce.

  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to optimize performance.

  • Analyze production data and prepare regular reports on operational performance.

  • Lead operational readiness during audits, inspections, and internal reviews.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Meat Science, Agribusiness, Operations Management, or related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • 5+ years of experience in beef processing or meat production operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or superintendent role.

  • Strong knowledge of USDA regulations, HACCP, and food safety systems.

  • Proven leadership and team management skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
