The Opportunity:

An opportunity for an experienced Metallurgy leader to join a well-established copper / gold operation in Queensland. This key leadership role will drive plant optimisation, lead technical improvement initiatives, and play a central role in the site's next phase of growth.

Leading the site's Metallurgy and Laboratory teams, you will drive plant performance and recovery, deliver metallurgical accounting and forecasting, and partner closely with Processing and Maintenance leaders to maximise reliability and throughput. This is a hands-on, technically strong leadership role for a people-focused professional, with a genuine pathway to progression.

Site: Copper / Gold Mine (~700 employees total)
Roster: Residential or FIFO/DIDO considered
Salary: $210k -$230k + 25% STI + LTI + company house + vehicle
Direct Reports: 2 x Senior Metallurgists & 2 x Laboratory Supervisors (~20 person Met & Lab team)

Key Focus:

  • Lead and develop the Metallurgy and Laboratory teams to achieve safe and efficient production outcomes.
  • Drive plant optimisation through performance monitoring, identifying improvement opportunities and implementing technical solutions.
  • Deliver metallurgical accounting, forecasting and reporting to support business performance.
  • Partner with Processing and Maintenance teams to maximise plant reliability, recovery and throughput.
  • Contribute to budgeting, cost control, strategic planning and metallurgical improvement projects across site.
  • Support the site's growth pipeline, including a planned underground orebody extension.
  • Lead structured diagnosis and resolution of plant and metallurgical challenges across grinding, flotation and dewatering circuits.

Core Competencies / Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Metallurgy, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in metalliferous processing, including operational leadership experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of grinding, flotation and dewatering circuits - copper-gold flotation experience preferred, other base metals experience considered.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage budgets and deliver business improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills.
  • A continuous improvement mindset and a passion for developing people.
