An exciting opportunity awaits for a seasoned MEP Estimator (Mechanical and Piping or Electrical) to join a forward-thinking international construction firm. Specializing in complex, high-tech builds such as data centers, laboratories, hospitals, and pharmaceutical facilities, this organization is expanding its presence in Germany and Switzerland, with this role based in either Frankfurt or Zurich.

Key Responsibilities

• Cost Estimation & Budgeting: Prepare conceptual budgets and detailed cost estimates across all project phases-from early design through to construction. Deliver accurate bid proposals and financial analyses.

• Technical Proficiency: Serve as a subject matter expert in MEP systems including HVAC, electrical, fire protection, and control systems. Analyze technical documentation to ensure thorough scope coverage and pricing accuracy.

• Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to align on scope and cost expectations. Coordinate with design consultants, clients, and trade partners to ensure comprehensive and consistent project delivery.

• Preconstruction & Value Engineering: Support preconstruction efforts by integrating MEP costs into the full project budget. Identify cost-saving opportunities, perform risk assessments, and develop mitigation strategies.

• Procurement Strategy: Lead procurement activities, assess market conditions, and manage contract negotiations. Create and manage bid packages while ensuring complete and accurate documentation.

• Design Collaboration: Work alongside design teams to verify project intent, close scope gaps, and develop cost-effective solutions that align with project goals.

Qualifications

• Education: Completed apprenticeship or degree in engineering or a related technical field.

• Languages: Fluent in German and English.

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years' experience in MEP estimation within commercial or technical sectors such as data centers or life sciences. Familiarity with local codes and construction standards.

• Technical Skills: Proficient in estimation software, CAD, quantity takeoff tools, and Microsoft Office suite.

• Personal Attributes: Structured and detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills. Able to work independently while maintaining team collaboration. Strong communication abilities, especially when presenting estimates to stakeholders. Skilled at managing multiple deadlines and priorities.
