We are representing a nationally recognised, employee-owned consulting engineering firm with a strong and growing Transportation practice across Illinois. Due to a significant backlog of secured projects the firm is seeking an experienced Highway Engineer to join their team.

The position offers 100% remote flexibility, with the option to work hybrid from a local Illinois offices if preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and deliver highway and roadway design projects from concept through final design.
  • Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates in accordance with IDOT and local agency standards.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including structures, traffic, drainage, and utilities.
  • Manage client relationships and attend agency coordination meetings.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.
  • Ensure quality control and compliance with agency and internal standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (or related field).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license - required (Illinois PE).
  • 5+ years of highway/transportation design experience.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering projects for IDOT and/or other Illinois transportation agencies.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation / OpenRoads (or comparable roadway design software).
  • Strong understanding of IDOT standards and procedures.
