The FSQA Manager is responsible for overseeing all food safety and quality assurance programs at the facility to ensure compliance with USDA regulations, third-party audits, and internal standards. This role ensures that the facility produces safe, wholesome, and high-quality meat products while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and food safety.
Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of FSQA systems including HACCP, SSOPs, GMPs, and GFSI-based programs (e.g., SQF, BRC).
Serve as the primary liaison with USDA-FSIS, third-party auditors, and certification bodies.
Monitor compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (FSIS, FDA, OSHA).
Manage internal and external audits, corrective action plans, and documentation.
Conduct routine inspections of processing areas to ensure adherence to food safety and sanitation standards.
Review and approve product labels, specifications, and process validations.
Develop and deliver training programs for food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
Investigate and respond to customer complaints, product holds, recalls, and deviations.
Maintain microbiological and environmental testing programs; interpret results and lead investigations.
Supervise QA technicians and ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to quality, yield, shelf life, and product consistency.
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Microbiology, or a related field (Master's preferred).
Minimum 5 years in FSQA roles within a USDA-inspected meat processing facility.
2+ years in a management or supervisory role.
HACCP Certified (Required)
PCQI Certification (Preferred)
SQF/BRC Practitioner (Preferred)
Internal Auditor Certification (Preferred)
