The FSQA Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of food safety and quality assurance within the meat processing facility. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements (USDA, FDA, HACCP), customer specifications, and internal quality standards, while leading a team to maintain and continuously improve food safety and product quality systems.
Food Safety & Regulatory Compliance
Lead and maintain the plant's HACCP and Food Safety Plans.
Ensure compliance with USDA, FDA, GFSI (e.g., SQF/BRC), and all applicable regulatory bodies.
Manage audits and inspections (internal, third-party, and government).
Investigate and resolve non-conformances, customer complaints, and deviations.
Quality Assurance
Oversee the implementation of quality control measures for raw materials, processing, and finished goods.
Monitor product specifications, sensory evaluation, and shelf-life testing.
Ensure proper documentation and traceability across all QA processes.
Team Leadership
Supervise, train, and develop FSQA team members.
Schedule quality checks and ensure team is meeting sampling and testing protocols.
Foster a food safety culture across departments.
Continuous Improvement
Analyze quality and safety trends; implement preventive and corrective actions.
Drive root cause analysis and CAPA processes.
Collaborate with production, R&D, and supply chain on improvement initiatives.
Recordkeeping & Reporting
Maintain accurate and organized documentation for inspections, audits, and regulatory requirements.
Provide regular reports on KPIs, quality metrics, and audit outcomes to leadership.
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Microbiology, or related field.
5+ years of experience in food manufacturing, preferably in meat processing.
2+ years in a supervisory or management role.
HACCP certification required; SQF/BRC certification preferred.
Strong knowledge of USDA regulations, sanitation standards, and GFSI schemes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and QA software systems.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
