Savannah, GA | Full-Time | Leadership Role
We are conducting a confidential search on behalf of a leading intralogistics company seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager. This role will lead mechanical and electrical engineering teams responsible for designing and delivering conveyor and material handling systems. Based in Savannah, GA, this is a high-impact leadership position where you'll ensure projects are executed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead engineering activities across mechanical layout/design and electrical panel/schematic design.
Oversee the development of system layouts using CAD tools (AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks).
Direct the electrical design process, including control panel layout, schematics, and cable routing.
Manage departmental budgets, forecasting, and expense tracking.
Collaborate with sales, project management, manufacturing, and installation teams to turn customer requirements into engineered solutions.
Plan and track deliverables across multiple projects to ensure on-time, cost-effective execution.
Establish and maintain engineering standards and processes to support repeatability and continuous improvement.
Recruit, develop, and mentor a team of engineers while fostering a culture of technical excellence.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
8+ years of engineering experience, with at least 4 in material handling systems.
Proven ability to lead cross-disciplinary engineering teams in a project-based environment.
Strong technical knowledge of conveyor systems and material handling equipment.
Proficiency with CAD tools (AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks).
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Knowledge of UL 508A panel design, PLC integration, and electrical safety standards (preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in automated systems for distribution or fulfillment environments.
Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma certification.
MBA or formal leadership training.
