Our client is a global engineering group specialising in mining and rock excavation, metal-cutting and materials technology. Within their ground support division, they are looking for a Director of Operations to be based out of Sturgeon Falls, Saskatoon or North Bay, who is open to extensive travel between sites and some global travel.

As the Director of Operations, you will report into the Regional CEO and be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of three facilities, across Sturgeon Falls, North Bay and Saskatoon, ensuring efficiency, safety, and excellence across all production and operational functions. You will drive performance to meet short- and medium-term financial and operational goals in alignment with the company's overall business strategy.

In this Director of Operations position you will also be responsible for:

  • Managing the full budget and cost of the operations in the entire NAM region of the Ground Support Division (cost of goods produced and product costs), including establishment of quarterly forecasts.
  • Full understanding of LEAN manufacturing and other operational management methodologies.
  • Developing a lean culture promoting continuous improvement.
  • Translating divisional strategy into clear execution plans for the site; cascading/communicating and delivering on these plans.
  • Personnel responsibility for your team including target setting, performance management and accountability for work environment, health and safety as per local legislation, policies.

Essentials

  • 5-10 years' experience in a senior role leading manufacturing facilities.
  • High competence in business process development/implementation and change management.
  • Experience with trade unions.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to understand "top-level" issues and translate, clarify and cascade these requirements to all levels in the organization.
  • Located in, or willing to relocate to Sturgeon Falls, North Bay or Saskatoon.
  • Able to travel globally.
