Director of Business Development - Infrastructure
Location: Austin, TX / Central Texas

The Opportunity
A well-established and growing infrastructure consultancy is looking to appoint a Director of Business Development to lead growth efforts across key Texas markets.
This is a business development-led position for someone who enjoys being in front of clients, developing relationships, identifying opportunities and ultimately helping to win new work.
You will work closely with senior leadership and technical teams to develop the growth strategy, strengthen relationships with key clients and partners, build a healthy pipeline of opportunities and position the business for major pursuits.
While the position provides leadership to an established marketing function, this is not a traditional marketing or proposal-management role. The primary focus is external business development, client engagement and revenue growth.
What You'll Be Doing
- Identify, develop and convert new business opportunities.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, partners, primes and key industry stakeholders.
- Develop and manage a strong pipeline of opportunities across Texas.
- Lead client engagement and positioning ahead of formal procurements.
- Attend industry events, conferences, meetings and networking functions.
- Work closely with senior and technical leadership to develop market and account strategies.
- Lead pursuit strategy and participate in Go/No-Go decisions.
- Support major proposals, presentations and interview preparation.
- Identify strategic teaming and partnership opportunities.
- Provide strategic leadership to the marketing and proposal team.
- Maintain visibility of opportunities, client activity and pipeline through CRM systems.
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of experience within business development, client development or growth in the AEC/infrastructure sector.
- A proven ability to build client relationships and generate new business.
- Strong understanding of the Texas infrastructure, engineering, construction or professional-services market.
- Experience within transportation, infrastructure, program/construction management, engineering, architecture or a related AEC environment would be highly advantageous.
- Comfortable developing relationships with senior decision-makers and representing a business externally.
- Experience leading or mentoring others.
- Strong communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
- Commercially minded with the ability to turn relationships and market intelligence into opportunities.
- Comfortable travelling regularly for client meetings, industry events and conferences.
Why Consider It?
This is an opportunity to take a highly visible role within a growing consultancy where business development has a genuine influence on company strategy.
You will have significant autonomy to develop relationships, pursue new markets and help shape the company's future growth, while working directly with senior leadership and experienced technical teams.
The position would suit an established Business Development Manager, Client Development Manager or Growth Leader looking to step into a Director-level position, as well as an existing BD Director looking for greater autonomy and influence.
