The Director of Beef Operations will oversee and optimize all aspects of beef production, processing, and distribution within the company. This role requires deep expertise in beef industry supply chains, USDA regulations, quality assurance, and operational efficiency. The Director will be responsible for ensuring consistent supply of high-quality beef products, maximizing operational profitability, and maintaining rigorous compliance with safety and sustainability standards.
Strategic & Operational Leadership
Develop and execute the company's beef operations strategy, from sourcing to customer delivery.
Lead and mentor plant managers, procurement teams, and operational staff across multiple facilities.
Monitor market trends, cattle pricing, feed costs, and processing capacity to ensure competitive positioning.
Implement cost-control measures without compromising product quality or animal welfare.
Production & Processing Management
Oversee live cattle procurement, feedlot operations, and slaughter/processing plant performance.
Ensure compliance with USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) standards.
Optimize yield, throughput, and product consistency through data-driven process improvements.
Coordinate with R&D, quality assurance, and marketing teams to align production with consumer demand.
Supply Chain & Logistics
Manage supply chain efficiency, including cold storage, transportation, and distribution networks.
Build strong relationships with ranchers, feed suppliers, and third-party logistics partners.
Mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions, weather events, or market volatility.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
Maintain strict adherence to animal welfare standards, sustainability commitments, and regulatory requirements.
Lead food safety programs, hazard analysis critical control points (HACCP) compliance, and audit readiness.
Drive company-wide culture of operational excellence, safety, and accountability.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Meat Science, Agribusiness, Supply Chain, or related field (Master's preferred).
Minimum 10 years' experience in beef production and/or meat processing operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
Proven track record in managing multi-site operations and large-scale teams.
Deep knowledge of beef industry economics, livestock production, and meat processing technologies.
