POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Development Manager

BUSINESS UNIT: Development

LOCATION: Head Office

REPORTING LINE: General Manager

The Development Manager will be responsible for the delivery of new development projects and the expansion or redevelopment of existing assets.

The role involves identifying opportunities for value creation, managing consultant teams, obtaining planning approvals and delivering projects through to completion.

The Development Manager will manage projects across the full development life cycle including site assessment, concept development, approvals and construction delivery across a portfolio of projects.

The role will be focused on both Development and Project Management activities within the development pipeline. Typical project values range between $2m to $20m.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITY

Development

  • Lead a portfolio of prospective development projects throughout the development life cycle from acquisition, concept, delivery and operational handover.

  • Prepare and oversee feasibility studies for internal approvals to support successful project delivery.

  • Develop and implement strategies to monitor projects continuously, optimising returns and mitigating risks.

  • Lead all aspects of project development and implementation including business cases, project plans and governance frameworks to achieve on-time and on-budget outcomes.

  • Manage project cost planning, budgeting and oversight of claims and payments.

  • Drive and lead negotiations and agreements on acquired sites including commercial terms and contracts.

  • Navigate legal, regulatory, planning and other industry matters that may arise, providing actionable recommendations regarding project feasibility.

  • Lead and manage project teams including internal stakeholders and external consultants to deliver key milestones and project outcomes.

  • Facilitate construction tender processes and contract negotiations with preferred contractors.

  • Oversee effective project completion and handover to operational teams where required.

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders to foster trust and strong working relationships.

EXPERIENCE AND CAPABILITIES

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 year's experience in property, construction or development.

  • Minimum of 5 year's experience in Development Management or similar roles.

  • Experience across design, project and construction management.

  • Demonstrated experience managing projects through planning approvals and delivery.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Property, Engineering, Urban Planning or a related discipline.

  • Project Management qualifications are desirable.
