As a Controls Engineer in our food manufacturing facility, you will play a key role in ensuring our production systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. You'll design, program, troubleshoot, and optimize automated control systems that drive our production lines - helping us deliver high-quality food products to customers around the world.
You'll work hands-on with PLCs, HMIs, instrumentation, and control networks, collaborating closely with maintenance, production, and quality teams to improve uptime and process performance.
Design, program, and maintain PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for new and existing production equipment.
Troubleshoot automation and electrical control issues to minimize downtime.
Support continuous improvement projects, integrating process control upgrades and automation enhancements.
Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to identify root causes of equipment failures and implement long-term solutions.
Develop and update electrical schematics, control logic documentation, and system backups.
Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and safety regulations (e.g., SQF, OSHA, NFPA 70E).
Work with OEMs and vendors to support new equipment installation and system integration.
Monitor and improve control system performance, data collection, and process traceability.
Train operators and technicians on control systems and troubleshooting best practices.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Controls, or Automation Engineering (or equivalent experience).
3+ years of experience in controls or automation, ideally in food or beverage manufacturing.
Proficiency with Allen-Bradley (Rockwell) PLCs, HMIs, and industrial communication networks (EtherNet/IP, ControlNet, etc.).
Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, sensors, actuators, and instrumentation.
Experience with data acquisition, SCADA systems, and process control logic.
Familiarity with FDA, GMP, and food safety standards in an automated environment.
Excellent problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills.
A proactive approach to safety, continuous improvement, and system reliability.
