CSG Talent are working alongside a global Tier 1 mining operator to support their search for a Chief Underground Geomechanical Engineer to provide corporate-level oversight of underground excavation stability, mine design review, and geotechnical risk governance specifically focused on a Tier 1 underground mine.

This is not site focused role. This is a strategic technical leadership position influencing underground mine design, production planning, support standards, and stability management across complex underground operations. The role will be based in Pheonix, Arizona and acts as a technical advisory position working on the delivery of geomechanical projects on site from the office in the city.

You will:

  • Provide expert oversight of underground excavation stability and support design

  • Review and guide mine design, development sequencing and remedial strategies

  • Lead numerical and empirical modelling approaches (Q, RMR, RS3, Map3, unWedge)

  • Support large-scale underground expansion and construction projects

  • Act as SME to operations and corporate leadership

  • Oversee consultants and geomechanical programs globally

We are looking for:

  • Strong underground mining geomechanics background (operator or consulting)

  • Experience supporting underground production environments

  • Preferably exposure to caving operations

  • Advanced rock mass characterization and modelling capability

  • Ability to influence at both operational and executive level

This is a rare opportunity to move into a global technical advisory role working on a Tier 1 underground mine from a US base with only occasional trips to site.
