Position Overview:
We're seeking a proactive and results-driven Business Development Director to lead new customer acquisition across the dietary supplement, functional food, and wellness industries. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and is motivated by building relationships, opening new opportunities, and driving strategic growth.

Reporting to senior leadership, you'll focus on introducing science-backed functional ingredients and microbiome testing platforms to innovative brands. Your primary goal will be to identify high-potential partners, cultivate meaningful relationships, and guide prospects through a consultative sales process-particularly across the Eastern U.S. region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • New Business Growth: Identify and engage prospective B2B partners across supplement, functional food, and wellness sectors.
  • Self-Driven Execution: Work independently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining clear priorities.
  • Strategic Opportunity Development: Translate business goals into actionable growth strategies.
  • Market Insight: Stay current on trends in functional ingredients, microbiome science, and consumer wellness.
  • Relationship Management: Own the customer lifecycle from initial outreach through onboarding and ongoing support.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal teams such as Product Development, Marketing, and Supply Chain.
  • Pipeline Management: Maintain accurate records in a CRM system and provide updates to stakeholders.
  • Industry Engagement: Attend trade shows, conferences, and events to build relationships and gather insights.
  • Customer Feedback: Share insights to support product innovation and continuous improvement.

Travel:
Up to 50% travel within the Eastern U.S.

Experience:

  • 5-7 years of B2B sales or business development experience
  • Background in health, wellness, nutraceuticals, or ingredients preferred
  • Experience with branded ingredients is a plus

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Nutrition, Food Science, or related field

Core Competencies:

  • Strong relationship-building and account management skills
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets
  • Consultative sales approach with strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to translate technical/scientific concepts into commercial messaging
  • Organized with CRM experience (e.g., Salesforce or similar)
  • Strategic and analytical mindset
  • Comfortable working independently and cross-functionally

Knowledge:
Familiarity with microbiome science, gut health, or functional ingredients is a plus
