I am working with a leading beef manufacturing company committed to producing high-quality, safe, and sustainable products for customers across retail, foodservice, and industrial markets. As we continue to grow, we're seeking a skilled and motivated Assistant Plant Manager to help lead operations, support production excellence, and drive efficiency across our beef processing facility.
Role Overview
The Assistant Plant Manager will work closely with the Plant Manager to oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring production goals are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, quality, and employee safety. This hands-on leadership role is ideal for a dynamic operations professional ready to take the next step in their manufacturing leadership career within a fast-paced, high-volume beef production environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Plant Manager in overseeing all aspects of plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality assurance, and logistics.
Manage daily production activities to meet efficiency, yield, safety, and quality targets.
Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Ensure compliance with all food safety, quality, and regulatory standards, including HACCP, GMP, and USDA/FSIS requirements.
Collaborate with cross-functional departments to optimize scheduling, staffing, and resource utilization.
Champion a strong culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork across the facility.
Work closely with maintenance and engineering teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment performance.
Participate in plant-level strategic planning and assist in developing and executing improvement initiatives.
Lead, coach, and develop supervisors and team leads to strengthen leadership capabilities and promote career growth.
Act as Plant Manager in their absence, ensuring smooth, uninterrupted operations and decision-making.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Meat Science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
5+ years of leadership experience in beef or meat processing, with a strong understanding of manufacturing operations.
Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage multiple functions within a fast-paced production environment.
Solid knowledge of HACCP, GMP, OSHA, and USDA/FSIS regulations.
Proven success in improving yield, throughput, and operational efficiency.
Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
