I am working with a leading poultry manufacturing company dedicated to producing high-quality, safe, and sustainable products for customers across retail and foodservice markets. As we continue to grow, we're seeking a motivated and experienced Assistant Plant Manager to support overall plant operations and help drive performance, safety, and efficiency across our facility.
Role Overview
The Assistant Plant Manager will work closely with the Plant Manager to oversee daily operations, ensuring production goals are met while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, quality, and compliance. This hands-on leadership role is ideal for a driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is ready to take the next step in their operational leadership career.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Plant Manager in leading all aspects of plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality, and logistics.
Oversee daily production activities to ensure safety, quality, efficiency, and yield targets are achieved.
Support the implementation and monitoring of KPIs and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
Ensure compliance with all food safety, quality, and regulatory standards, including HACCP, GMP, and USDA/FSIS requirements.
Partner with department heads to optimize scheduling, staffing, and resource utilization.
Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork across all levels of the plant.
Support maintenance and engineering teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
Participate in strategic planning and assist in developing operational improvement initiatives.
Train, mentor, and develop production supervisors and frontline leaders to build a high-performing workforce.
Act as Plant Manager in their absence to ensure continuity of operations and decision-making.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Poultry Science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
5+ years of leadership experience in poultry or meat manufacturing, with a strong understanding of plant operations.
Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple departments in a fast-paced production environment.
Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMP, OSHA, and USDA/FSIS regulations.
Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Demonstrated success in improving efficiency, yield, and operational performance.
